As I stood there I realised I had taken one bus, two trains and another bus and was right back where I had started.

My fourth day in London and I was lost again. I, an ex flight attendant who had been to London a number of times, was making a fool of myself in front of Rhys. He had never been to the UK before, let alone Europe and he was quite amused I had taken us the wrong way.

An hour late on a surprisingly warm London day, my boyfriend (now fiance) Rhys kindly pulled over a Taxi. Finally, we arrived safely at our destination with plenty of time for catch ups with the new bride and a friend from boarding school, Kate.

When travelling I like to plan ahead. Usually it helps prevent these kinds of situations but it doesn’t help if you plan your trip to the completely wrong destination! Although I struggled with public transport let me share with you the plans I made so I could easily continue my healthy lifestyle in London.

Accommadation

When I read Kate’s hand made invite I knew straight away I wanted to be there with her on her special day. Kate had kindly also sent a list of places to stay and thats when I discovered AIRBNB. Oh Em Gee it was the best discovery because I use it all the time when I travel now.

The Wedding was in Hackney so we decided to stay near by and found this Trendy Loft in East London which once was a toy factory. It was great to have our own space which felt like a home away from home. I loved the massive bath tub which I soaked in after the long flight. A comfortable bed, spacious living room and most importantly our own kitchen.

Food

Having your own space especially a kitchen means you can cook your own meals and snacks which makes it easier to stay healthy. You can eat foods you know will nourish your body. I planned ahead and found times and locations of farmers markets, health food stores and other shops that I knew I could find products I would actually eat. We cooked a big breakfast each day to keep us going and packed snacks in our bag for during the day.

Getting lost on transport is forgivable but I know I have to know where my next meal is coming from or at least the ingredients for my next meal. I felt confident knowing I had googled plenty and had a list I was happy with. This was not going to be a fish and chip trip for me. However, some things will just discover, like a great little juice bar just outside the train station that was near St Paul’s Cathedral. Some things you can’t find on Google!

When your away on holidays, you have to treat yourself. Finding a place that suits your lifestyle choices can sometimes be tricky if you choose to live the way I do. However it’s worth making the effort because you never know what you may discover.

WILD FOOD CAFE

Tucked away in Neal’s Court Yard was this great little cafe. The food was insanely good, organic, fresh, sustainable and wild. I loved it so much I went two days in a row. If you can’t make it to London luckily they share some recipes on their website. I love this drink recipe which I have made for my friends and for myself a fair few times now.

I love food however my favourite part was the Wedding. John and Kate did an amazing job and I loved their little eco-friendly touches. The invite was hand sewn, the bridesmaid dresses and the Wedding dress were made by Kate and she looked absolutely stunning. This special occasion was worth the trip. I loved meeting her friends, catching up with her family and meeting John, the love of her life.

We didn’t plan too much sight seeing, we just walked around to see what we discovered and it ended up being a great five days in London.
