In the wholehearted way members area every three months a new book is added to our book club. We read at our own pace and share our journey with each other, by the end of the year we’ve connected with four different books. Each three months we gather on a call and discuss how we’ve taken the book and embodied what we have learnt, the results that have come from inspired actions, what we love and don’t love about the book and share our highlights from the book.
Here were 2018’s picks:
The Barefoot Investor – Jan-Mar Book
Author: Scott Pape
In The Barefoot Investor will show you how to create an entire financial plan that is so simple, you can sketch it on the back of a serviette and you’ll be able to manage your money in 10 minutes a week. It’s the only money guide you’ll ever need.
This book is entertaining and not what I expected, easy to understand and follow. After reading barefoot it’s allowed Rhys (my husband) and I to grow our savings quickly, get rid of unnecessary fees, put plans towards our dream home, pay off things quickly and changed the way we spend our money (not in a way we feel restricted).
My husband Rhys and I actually listened to this book on audio and after finding results in our own life I decided that it would be a helpful book for those in our community. For a book about finance it was entertaining, fun and easy to read. When I shared it with members many of them had great results with this book and were able to take control of their financial situation. Wonderful at our group call to hear the insights and stories of the results gained.
Recommend buying a physical copy of the book as it’s easier to follow steps, there is a checklist at the end of each chapter. On our group call a few of us shared how we were surprised at the fees that we were being charged by our bank that were completely unnecessary. I personally was refunded up to $50 of little “mistakes” of charges by my bank.
Money and the Law of Attraction – Apr-Jun Book:
Author: Ester and Jerry Hicks
This leading edge work by Esther and Jerry Hicks, who present the teachings of the Non-Physical consciousness Abraham, explains that the two subjects mostly chronically affected by the Law of Attraction are financial and physical well-being. This book shines a spotlight on each of the most significant aspects of your life experience and then guides you to the conscious creative control every aspect of your life. It also goes right into the heart of what most of you are probably troubled by; money and physical health, and it has been written to deliberately align you with the most powerful law in the universe – the Law of Attraction – so that you can make it work specifically for you.
My word for 2018 was prosperity so I felt called to share this as money is ultimately is another form of energy and not something to think is the root of all evil. Understanding the law of attraction allows people to shift there energy to vibrate at a frequency that aligns with what we are wanting to call in. If you haven’t read the book here is a video you might like to watch to get the idea of what it’s all about.

Kerrie is a local Author who’s journey with her book has taken her internationally as well as this book also encourages members of our community to connect with others around us. I feel this book aligns with our manifesto and part of The Wholehearted Adventure event at the end of 2018 was to put this book into action and connect with strangers. The stories of those experiences were certainly heart warming. Kerrie spoke at The Wild Ones event I hosted in 2017 and also provided a lesson in my short online course Become An Earth Friendly Human. So it felt right that her book should feature in our book club.
Same Same but Different – Oct – Dec
Author: Marie Antoinette Helou
Have you ever wondered whether there is more to mental illness than what the medical establishment offers?
Have you ever wondered whether those voices could be real?
Have you had strange phenomena happen to you that made you wonder if you were crazy?
Maybe you want to live a life of purpose and freedom and just can’t get there. Perhaps you’ve felt crazy because you’ve had unusual experiences in your life – apparently unexplainable ones. Perhaps you have gut feelings, strange occurrences and a pull to learn more about spiritual and esoteric subjects without knowing why. Perhaps you want to learn how to raise and use your intuition, or what your purpose is here on this planet!
We live in exciting times, as the world is experiencing a global shift. Spiritual awakenings and psychic phenomena are becoming increasingly common. The next step in our spiritual evolution is to understand the nature of the soul.
The 12 keys in this book offer a way out of the mainstream medical views to a soul approach, including a shamanic perspective. Filled with stories and teachings from other worlds, and describing the ascension process that affects us all, each chapter is designed to unlock unconscious keys within the heart to allow for a mind expansion and a deeper understanding of the soul aspects of your being. After more than 10 years of research and experience, Marie brings a light-hearted, down-to-earth and humorous multi-dimensional framework to how we view sanity.
Marie has been a speaker and MC at Embody Your Rawness (2016) and The Wild Ones (2017) as well as hosting an book reading for The Wholehearted Way Members in 2018. Marie traveled out to meet us in Dubbo and we were able to intuitively pick a page and Marie read out this part of the book to us as well as offering channelling later in the night gifting people with messages.
Marie wrote part of this book at a retreat I hosted in Byron Bay and I’ve been waiting to read since. When I finally got myself a signed copy I read the book in one day and choose it for the community book club as there are people in the community who have experiences and connections others may think are crazy. This book allowed them to deepen their understanding of their natural gifts, be more open to them as well as mentioning tools to support their journey.
I’ve just recently shared the Jan- Mar 2019 book with the wholehearted way community. It’s one I have listened to and read so many times I’ve lost count! Each time I connect with this book another ah-ha occurs and shifts my life. Can’t wait to see what unfolds in the next few months when people connect with this book.
Love to hear what books you read in 2018 and is there any you would recommend to be on the reading list for 2019? (Leave a comment below)
