April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and in the past few years every April I have got involved in projects such as Red My Lips and held special events during this time.
This year I reached out to The Wholehearted Community with a few ideas of what we could do throughout the month such as Red My Lips and gather together for Self Love Practices online. One the gorgeous souls in the community had heard about Rafiki Mwema which provides therapeutic homes for children up to the age of 12 who have been sexually assaulted and suggested we gather together to create affirmation cards for them. I loved the idea and organised the event straight away.
Justine from Regand Park Early Childhood Education Centre provided the venue so we could gather together and create.
We had some members bring their children too. Grateful to have some of the younger generation involved in this evening and loved hearing their ideas for affirmations we could use.
We spent over an hour letting out our inner child, creating affirmation cards with a range of colours, themes and powerful words. While creating the cards we talked about the importance of boundaries, being a role model and creating change then gathered at the end of our evening together in meditation.
As part of the month of April I am donating the profits from my Inner Child Meditation to Rafiki Mwema as well gifting a bonus to those that support this cause. If you invest in the inner child meditation you are invited to join in on the self love practices throughout the month too (which are usually only for members).
Self love is more than getting your nails done or having a hot bath and that’s what we’ve been exploring, that connection to who we are Being – our connection to self. There’s still a chance to join us if you’d like plus I have a few special guests coming up the end of the month:
Thanks to Larissa at Royal Bubs n Tots Dubbo we have a special book giveaway to win a copy of the book “Only For Me”. This book is endorsed by one of Australia’s leading child protection agencies Act For Kids, Only For Me is a resource of the Child Protection Unit at Sydney Children’s Hospital and has been reviewed by Kids Book Review as:
If you weren’t able to make this evening or would like to host an evening like this yourself feel free to reach out and ask any questions. Here is the information page about sending mail to the children at Rafiki Mwema.
